Zombies ate my neighbors!

So, this is Devin. This is my first post since I said that Laura and I are a lot cooler than the rest of the family. I am dying at work today. I was grappling with my enrollment counselors over whether or not I should let students into class. But now, the tides of fate have changed in my favor. Darson, while walking into the bathroom at work, was handed 6 or 7 pages (pp.80-86) of a science fiction/horror movie screenplay. It is about zombies. It is poorly written. We love it.

Here are some of our favorite lines:

"Carl, No! We might need the bullets!!"

and also,

"Holy Fu**! they aren't delivering supplies! They're delivering zombies!"

and who could forget...

"The zombies foot was tagged with a government secret intelligence agency logo"

Maybe the best six pages of screenplay ever. Nuts to you, Braveheart. Annie Hall, Not even close. Unfortuantely, we don't know the title. The author skeedaddled off right after he handed the pages to Darson, so we don't know who he is or what he even looks like. So we are holding a contest for the best title. Please submit your best ideas muy pronto.

Hugs and kisses and braaaaaiins,
Devin

7 Reasons Why I Heart Me

It's my BIRTHDAY present to ME!!! Emporer Kuzco

It's "The Final Countdown" to my birthday. Okay I suck at life, it's been like a week but in my defense I've been busy reading Harry Potter (I'm done now) and getting ready for girls camp...

So my final two reasons why I heart me are as follows. This will make up for the weeks worth of nothing to read when I am at girls camp.

Reason #2 I have the best sisters in the world!!!!
Let's start at the beginning.

Emily is the best older sister ever. Once we got through the hating each other and trying to kill each other stage (imagine the brothers on "Just Friends" Chris and Mike Brander when they are holding each other down trying to spit in each others mouths. Emily and I kind of were like that. When we saw that movie together we almost died laughing. They equals us. Watch it and you will understand our earlier relationship.) Now that we are older we are much more mature. We only try to kill each other 10% of the time and the rest of the time we get along quite beautifully. She is the best for helping me when I'm sad because usually she has the same concerns and I know I'm not alone. She is also the BEST movie popcorn maker EVER! She does the butter perfectly while I stealthily put the salt shaker into my purse. (I don't steal it, we leave it in the movie theater but what good is the salt shaker out by the concessions stand?!? Now you know who to blame next time you can't find a salt shaker at AMC.) Emily and have spent many a summer going to every movie that comes out. Whether they are amazing movies like the night we saw Hero or crappy double features when first we saw The New Kid at the dollar and then Men in Black II at AMC which wasn't quite as fulfilling. Or when we watched the whole season of firefly feeling like HUGE nerds and then went and saw Serenity opening night and L-O-V-E-D it!! It changed our life. She helps me out when I do idiotic things and she is the best library book picker since my mom. Emily you rock it. You complete me.

Amanda is the best next older sister ever. We've had our scuffles over me using her perfume consistently when we were younger and stealing her clothes and staining them etc but we've worked through those times and now I heart her. She rocks for helping me with every craft I swear to someone in my ward I can pull off when I really can't. She helped me with the best Halloween costume ever. My witch hat was HOT. Not to mention the countless times she's helped me with scrap book projects, making headbands, making dinners, doing photos, making school projects etc. She is Martha Stewart. She reads her magazines cover to cover and I love it! Because then she passes her great ideas onto me. She is also the best sister ever because any time I can't figure something out I just call her and tell her about it. As I talk I usually figure it out. She doesn't even have to offer her ideas (but when she does they are BRILLIANT! and solve all my problems) but usually she just listens while I talk and figure out the problem just by talking it out. I don't know what I would do without her! She is the best example of a mom with kids who take two naps a day and go to bed by eight, that prefer broccoli over pasta or chicken, and who has her kids always dolled up and looking so so so so CUTE! She really is amazing and I love her more and more each day! p.s. Amanda I decided we should have a photo shoot of just us girls. It would be really fun and I only have one picture of us together and I look hideous .

Did I mention how hot your kids are? and how much I love them? I like Delia's scowl in this picture. She is intently trying to figure out if she is going to blow out the candles too.

Julia rocks it because she is the nicest girl in the world (when she wants to be haha). I have always admired her willingness to be so sweet to Annie, to take her out with her friends, to pick out cute outfits so Annie rocks it and to be patient with her. Julia is the most amazing clothes outfit picker ever. Since she was like 12 she's been picking out my outfits for me. She has passed on her talent to Emily now. I'm jealous of her. She also is the most amazingly creative kid. She always helps with my scrapbook projects slash putting together my house slash putting together anything I have. She is so good at CTRing. She is one of those kids who actually read along with the seminary scriptures you were supposed to. Julia is my favorite person to shop with and my favorite person to ride around in the car running errands and talking to. She tells me all her stories about her friends so I think I know them all like my best friends and we analyze her boy mysteries. She can pick the best food to get. She introduced me to the chicken Baja chalupa which is the best item on the taco bell menu. And if any of you know Julia as well as I do she is HILARIOUS! She makes me laugh so hard sometimes. Randomly some days she just is amazing and says the funniest things. I love her so much and look up to her so much even though she is younger than me!

My chin takes up the bottom third of the picture. I'm hot.
Finally there is miss Annie Bo Nannie. Annie is my favorite sister J/K I love them all but Julia says we are best friends. I have the best job in the world because all I do is hang out with her! It doesn't get much better than that!!! I go through serious withdrawls if I don't see Annie for more than two days. She is hilarious! (see Julia and Emily's post about her best phrases) and she is the most excited person you can go to a movie with. She practically jumps up and down in her seat. Annie always runs errands with me and while me CD player isn't working she makes me sing That thing you do and we rock out to it. She is the funnest person in the world to dance to songs with in the car. Annie is my favorite person to watch the Disney Channel with. She got me addicted to Hannah Montana and the Suite Life of Zach and Cody. It's probably a good thing that I don't get those channels at home because I would watch those shows too much. Annie is so good at giving hugs and always knows when you need one. I heart Annie!

Finally the #1 reason I heart me is because I have a fantastic husband.
I apologize in advance for husband worship.

So for my birthday, Darling Devin, with the help of my surrogate husband Darson who also does amazing things for me, made me a CD of Devin covering all of my favorite Beatles songs. I'm kind of in love with it, like a lot in love. He wisely didn't tell Julia about the surprise because she would have give in away, cough digital camera cough, but it was a fantastic surprise. Here is him holding the CD.

But maybe after he gave it to me because he had been working on it for like 2 months at Darson's house and I constantly complained about how he was never home and how he like his friends better than me. But alas, he told me how he had worked on it forever and I forgave him (haha when really he should have forgiven me for being a b). Anyways, his friends Darson also made me a fabulous suprise. He bought me a coffee table and painted and sanded it. It is HOT! and it totally matches my family room. Observe.

I really really love it. It is kind of amazing that somehow I get to have two husbands (sort of) that are both willing to take the shirt off their back for you. But I repay him through feeding him dinner from time to time. It doesn't even measure up. One day I'll have to do a post about him.

Back to Devin, I really don't think I could have gotten any luckier. He puts up with my ridiculousness and is extremely patient. He hasn't ever yelled once in the almost two years I've known him. He is amazing at everything he does and the only time we fight is over points in scrabble because he gets super competitive and can't stand me to beat him (even though I'm better) Actually I'm not but a girl can pretend. He pretends like my cooking is good and helps me with all the insane projects I come up with. I love going out to eat with him and going to the movies (he always lets me pick). But I think my favorite thing to do is just chill at home watching a movie or a t.v. series. I love watching t.v. series with devin! We have watched all of arrested development and house and the simpsons and friends. Well not all of the last two but a lot. my favorite thing was last semester when we never saw each other. He would finally get home around 9 or 9:30 and we would watch scrubs or the wonder years and eat popcorn or dinner. He is my favorite. He puts up with my flower addiction and tells me how pretty they are and tries to guess which ones are new when I get new ones. He even waters them sometimes when I am extra tired. (which is a big deal because we have to hand water them, no hose. ) He also serves at my beck at call whenever I am overstressed and have taken on too much to do. He lets me have my young women over all the time and he isn't jealous of the guy friends I still talk too. He lets me have the better car and is learning to like to go on long car ride vacations. He loves my mom and Daniel and I am so glad he got to know them! And he understands that I will cry at the drop of my mom's name, at mother daughter activities and at anything mentioned that has to do with something my mom loved. He takes over and talks to people when they talk about her and I'm not in the mood and he can tell when I am uncomfortable and want the subject changed. Pretty much I couldn't have gotten a better husband. I heart him the mostest.

filled with rage

So I probably shouldn't get that upset over this but I am so dang mad. HP 7 was ruined for me. How? The book isn't even out yet, you say! Well some idiot at the NY Times posted a review of the book. Do I read the NY Times? No. I don't. But I went to the movies today and someone told me a crucial part of the ending. I hate myself. Why does this always happen to me. Apparently I have bad karma and the world is against me. I must being doing horrible things in my sleep that I am unaware of, or everyone secretly hates me. Actually come to think of it I'm not even mad anymore. Just depressed, sinking feeling in my stomach that won't go away depressed.

I cried.

Yes, I am a nerd.

I hate my life...

7 Reasons Why I Heart Me

It's my BIRTHDAY present to ME!!! Emporer Kuzco

It's "The Final Countdown" to my birthday. Only one more day...

Reason #3 That I Love Me:

I have another confession. I think dressing up in costumes might be the greatest thing in the world. I don't know why I love it so much. Probably because I am the child of Sandra B. Jones (the greatest woman ever) and our family counts down to Halloween rather than Christmas. Amanda thinks I'm weird but I think I am amazing for it. Good thing I married one Devin A. Fletcher who also has the same obsession. Therefore, his birthday party every year (in april) is a costume party. For some sad reason I don't have any pictures from these occasions. Last year he was a coweboy and I was a fly, this year he was Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything and I was Sydney Bristow from Alias. I wasn't anything nearly as cool but I'm pretty sure the reason he married me is becuase the first time we hung out was when I was dressed like this.

I hate you if you don't know who I am. Not because its that good of a costume but because my hair is half white half black. Anyways, we love Halloween at our house too but we've eased up on the makeup.

I also think I love it so much because every year in elementary school we were very strongly encouraged to do the talent show. Here is me in kindergarten, Amanda in fourth grade and Emily in sixth grade when we dressed as pirates and sang "Never Smile at a Crocodile". We make Johnny Depp look like a pansy.

So pretty much I'm already planning next year's costume for Devin's party and Halloween is already in the works. I heart costumes.

7 Reasons Why I Heart Me

It's my BIRTHDAY present to ME!!! Emporer Kuzco

It's "The Final Countdown" to my birthday. Only two more days...

Reason #4 That I Love Me:

I lose everything I touch. I really don't think people understand quite why I'm stressed out all the time. It's because I have the memory of a gold fish. I walk in a room and forget what I'm doing. I put down my keys walk across the room and can't find them again. Yes my house is messy from time to time but really am I kidding? Half the time my phone is on silent because I just came home from school, I lose it and then can't call it to find it because it makes no noise. Once I found my silent phone in the trash next to the computer. I almost threw it away! Anyways if you ever see me frantic its probably because I'm looking for my phone, wallet, keys, brain etc.

This phone is the 17th one I've owned.

This key set is the 62nd pair.

When I bought my new sidekick I left it on top of my car 5 days after I bought it and drove off at a gas station never to be seen again. It would be an accident if I hadn't done it a week before with my old phone. In that case I put my phone on top of my car at my friends house and drove off, then realized it was missing and tried to find it in the road. Once again to was on silent so we couldn't call it to find it. And it was 11 at night and really dark. Lets just say those kids don't want to be my friend anymore.

Last semester at school when I locked my keys in my car and had to have my friend bring me the spare was pretty awesome too. It wouldn't have seemed so bad if I hadn't done it the week before at fiesta mall three hours before Dev and I were leaving for San Diego. The friend that brought me the keys saw me at the mall this time and offered to get me keys but I couldn't find my spare. I had to go to the dealer and buy a new key. Then after buying the key the guy I bought the car from told me all I had to do was call my 24 hour roadside assistance and they would have come and unlocked it for me essentially saving me 4 hours of wasted time.

My life gives me stress.
I equals amazing.

7 Reasons Why I Heart Me

It's my BIRTHDAY present to ME!!! Emporer Kuzco

It's "The Final Countdown" to my birthday. Only three more days...

Reason #5 That I Love Me:

I have a slightly large obsession with Harry Potter. Here's a picture of my just woken up self in my Hogwarts shirt happy that today is the opening of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

But you can't see my shirt so here is the shirt...

Don't you worry I think it is the oldest shirt I have given that it is from sophomore year but I love it all the same. This shirt has history. I met Devin in this shirt and the first time Devin told me I was pretty was when we went to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

We also watched HP and the Goblet of Fire the night he proposed on DVD. So Harry Potter and me have lots of sentiment together. I am so excited for tonight! So anyone that wants to come play with us tonight we are having a party outside the riverview cinemark theater thats on Dobson and the 202. We are going to the 12:30 showing so come and eat cake with us while we wait in line! We're going over at like five.

*** Attention everyone***
I had to add to my post because I forgot my most traumatic experience with Harry Potter. Summer of 2005 when HP #6 came out Emily and I went to the Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory movie, then went to walmart to pick up our copy of the book. I figured I was going to savor the book every last minute I could and so I read a chapter that night and decided I was going to limit the amount I read each day so that I wouldn't read it too fast. Well I was hanging out with random people at the time and that next night Tony Reed, this guy and I were going to watch a movie at the guy's house.I'll spare you the details of his name...you'll see why later. I got tasty Popsicles and we went there and before we could even get to the movie we sat down and starting talking to the people there. As we sat down I saw that the guy's niece was reading book 6. So you're reading book six? I say. Cool. Yeah she says. Then the mom pipes up. Ya she's been reading it all day and you'll never guess "Blank" kills "Blank"! (I'll leave out the characters name in case someone hasn't read book six but if you haven't... READ the dang book already!) Anyways so she totally blurts out the ending to the book I've been anticipating for the last year and I started hyperventilating. I am not joking I was really trying to catch my breath. I go into the other room trying to act calm and start crying. I was SO DANG upset! Tony comes in and thinks I'm a freak because I'm crying over a book...but it might have been my the most traumatic literary experience I've ever had. I wasn't even that upset about who dies just the fact that the end of the book was ruined! Boo on people that ruin endings to books. That's all. So read book 7 quick when it comes out so you don't have the same thing happen!!!

7 Reasons Why I Heart Me

It's my BIRTHDAY present to ME!!! Emporer Kuzco

It's "The Final Countdown" to my birthday. Only six more days...

Reason #6 That I Love Me:

I love doing projects but I often fail miserably at them. Take Today's example for a spin. I had this great idea to scrap book a quote onto paper and put it on a canvas painted black to match my family room and it turned out terribly. The letters aren't straight, you can see the modegepodge lines, and the paper went on all bubbly. I think I have to leave it up for the sake of Devin because he wouldn't like me after spending a lot of money on the project to just give up. Why can't I have Melissa's meticulous painting skills, Emily's mad scrapbooking skills or Amanda's good think it through before you do it skills? I need some of their genes. Instead I just got frustrated last night and went to sleep at like 9:30. Devin stayed up and tried to keep smoothing it out.

In other news, my teal squares turned out quite fabulously. Mostly due to my friend Shaina's help. She's really good at making tape straight. (I'm excited my next week's project is her wedding sign in book. Hopefully it will turn out okay. Sometime I need to post pictures of the other wedding books I did.)

So today's next project is hanging up all the pictures. I wish Devin could help but he's doing a project for someone else. I think they call it service? Dang righteous husband. Helping his friends. Puh! I still want to do a canvas painted black with a one year anniversary picture of us on it but I can't do it until Amanda gets home. So until then, hanging pictures it goes. But before I show you the finished product here is one more project I ripped off from Recollections that turned out okay.

Maybe one of these days I'll think of my own projects. Until then I'll just hang pictures.

Tahdah!

I love projects!!!

7 Reasons Why I Heart Me

It's my BIRTHDAY present to ME!!! Emporer Kuzco

It's "The Final Countdown" to my birthday. Only seven more days...

Reason #7 That I Love Me:

Let us start at the very beginning of reasons that I love me. First, I was the hottest baby this blog has ever seen*. Can you get enough of a chubby baby with dark brown curls and blue eyes? (obviously not because Chloe is still the cutest thing this side of Sossaman) And wasn't my mom the best to make sure I was always done up in mini-world attire? I'm pretty sure she made sure all of her kids rocked it.

Apparently I had a hearty appetite (I say had like I don't now).

And I'm pretty sure my sisters are still jealous that I was the only one that didn't have to wear a shirt under my bikini that my parents brought us back from Hawaii. (Amanda is there now and I really hope she starts the same animosity by bringing home Eden and Delia bikini's.)

Anyways overall I was a pretty hot kid. Until I grew up.

Exibit A.

Devin calls it my Harry Potter phase. Woe is me.

*Please note I am only talking about my blog on which I have yet to post a picture of my future child or my sister's children so I am safe to say the hottest baby given that I am the only baby this blog has ever seen. I also apologize for the 17 asides that were probably unnecessary.

Drum roll please...

So now that you guys are so f-ing tired of looking at mother goose anytime you look at my blog I can post anything I want to and everyone will be like hurray she posted something new! I don't have to look at stupid mother goose and summer school crap anymore (by the way I got an A in the class, I rock). Anyways get excited because "The Final Countdown" is starting tomorrow.

You love life.
