Last ten minutes of the last day of work.

It pains me that no one who reads this is going to get that reference but, alas. I, Devin Fletcher have ten minutes till I leave work for the day and I am officially spent. Everybody I know has cancer, I swear. Thus, I have become desensitized to it. Conversations have began to go like this:

Victim: I have cancer.
Devin: Really? What kind?

No, not "Oh no, I am sorry to hear that!", nor "I am sorry, I love you".

Pretty soon it will be:

Victim: I have cancer
Devin: Really? I'm an Aries myself.

Seacrest out.

Laura in comic form.

Here is Devin's opinion of me. He sent this to me via email from work.

Devin: "I found you in comic book form."

Just because it is mildly true doesn't mean its nice.

Here was my reply.

Laura: "eww. just because its true. make more money. i command you. now. i said...now!"

What a sweet wife for a sweet husband.

ALOT of post

Happy Birthday Surrogate Husband!

So now that you all are creeped out that I have a surrogate husband slash talk about him A LOT on my blog. I am first going to reassure you that we are not in love. He is just devin's best friend so we see him A LOT. I am second going to tell you about his birthday week and party and post about him yet again.

So we went up to his cabin that is like right before Christopher Creek and played two weekends ago. It was a ball.

We played cards A LOT.

Then we sat by the camp fire and ate, played guitar, and talked A LOT.

Per usual, Devin made creepy camera faces A LOT. But apparently I did too. Hence our inability to ever have good pictures.

Feww finally a semi okay one. Still our faces, kinda creepy.

And we had ALOT of fun.

Then we came home and had a real birthday celebration on Darson's real birthday.

Devin made a sign for the occasion. August 13th is our favorite person's birthday!

When we first got married I tried to keep a calendar on our fridge of what we had to do. So I made these dry erase markers with magnets on the back that stick to our fridge. Needless to say (this an example of my inconsitancy) it didn't last very long and now those markers are for decorating the fridge and leaving notes etc.

In order to get a good picture of Darson blowing out the candles we made him do it A LOT of times.

Then we ate A LOT of chocolate cake and played cards again. Yay for originality.

The end.

This is my friend Shaina who just got married. She had her bridal shower at this house in Lehi that was AMAZING! Each wall was different textures. Example the stone behind us. It was all really rustic in style but so so cute. And they had these silver squares of silver tin ceiling tiles lining the alcove above their kitchen that I want and need. They looked something like this.

but with a different design. I really need them.

Anyways her wedding was last weekend. I saw Kimber, Rachel's cousin while I was there. She was there for her friends sealing. Once again the three of us girls.

Why oh why do I keep taking pictures with girls that are size 2 and 4?

anyway that night we rocked it at the reception. Devin Courtney and I went early so we could bring the sign in book but got lost. Boo to queen creek and stupid rittenhouse road. I have a new hatred for you and will NEVER live in your stupid confusing city. The first page of the sign in book turned out pretty well.

It was the only thing I had left to do except make a bajillion business cards. Well, really only 20 but I like how they turned out. And 8 people took them. Yay!

Anyways on the way home from the reception we had a dance party in the car. And I hated Courtney for looking hotter in my Dad's old sunglasses than me, which made me wonder again, why do I have hot friends? And my hair looked like a mullet.

The end.

If only

Things's I wish I had slash knew how to do slash talents I wish I had...

1. A fantastically fast metabolism so I could eat anything I want. Curse any of you that do.

2. The ability to be organized see also Sara Palmer, Melissa Lindblom, and Angie Dixon. Very jealous of them.

3. The ability to draw/doodle/ have good handwriting/ sketch ridiculous people you see in classes

4. A better short term memory in the way of remembering where keys are, books, any small easily misplaced item.

5. A new climate to live in or just new skin for that matter. You could have seen me from ten miles away my face was so shiny at school.

6. Super smart genes so I could be done with college.

7. A new wardrobe. Mine is so... beige. Well actually it consists of a lot of black but I wasn't talking about color.

8. Consistency in anything.

9. Lots of new school supplies. New pens, favorite thing ever. New school supplies equal ecstasy. I totally get Meg Ryan's speech in you've got mail when she talks about bouquets of pencils and scotch tape.

10. To see Devin for more than an hour each day. I know we don't have it bad compared to some people but I am so excited for when we are both done with school and get to actually hang out from the months of august to may.

okay now that I'm done with that I know I am actually super blessed so here is this list.

Things I am grateful for.

1. A very nice husband who waits on me hand and foot and hasn't gotten sick of me yet.

2. My car. I love my car.

3. Eclipse. I think I am singular in this opinion but I am finally reading it and I'm half way through and I like it so much more than Harry Potter #7 and NewMoon. The ending of HP was so lame.

4. The cinnamon gum I bought this morning.

5. The new comf and pictures I bought at IKEA.

6. My church calling.

7. My friends who are fantastic and amazing. My dearest best girl friend Courtney Shobe has a surprise for me and Devin this weekend. She told us to clear our Friday night and Saturday schedules and I could not be more EXCITED!

8. Annie Jones and her smiling face.

9. The temple

10. New parking at ASU institute that will allow me to get through a semester ticket FREE!!!

girls camp

Okay so I know this post is so late and that I haven't posted in forever so may I please start by apologizing. This week has been busy since school started and since my friend went through the temple and is gettting married. And for some reason that amazing girl let me be her escort. Amazing temple experience. I hope its just prepping me for the experience my family will have in a couple of weeks when emily goes through and we do the work for daniel . Cross my fingers.

Anyways back on topic. Here are the 10 things I learned at girls camp.

10. It is not enjoyable to get a june bug stuck in between your shade shirt and your g top when at girls camp wearing a mermaid costume which proceded this picture.

9. It is enjoyable to have fantastic YCL assistants aka morgan and sarah who are the joys of my emerald bay ward existence and who make me very happy very much of the time and who are ridiculous and hilarious and make me wish I was as cool as them when I was 17.

Morgan

Sarah

this fantastic girl is also gave me like a full body massage while at camp. Love her.

8. Don't wear converse on an 8 mile rocky hike. Self explanatory.

7. Do dress up in ridiculous costumes while at camp.

a picture of the kitchen during the leader's skits. our costumes were amazing!

6. Do make your girls dress up in ridiculous costumes while at camp.

5. Do go to fourth year insetead of main camp. It's worth the hike.

4. Do NOT wait until the night before to pack and make all of your devotional handouts and not get any sleep before camp.

3. Do meet a wonderful woman named patty sykes who is hilarious and amazing and who I want to be when I grow up. She did a dance to swan lake and pretty much made everyone spit out or choke on their food becuase she was so funny.

2. Do have fantastic girls

1. Last but not least BEG your bishop to put you in Young Women's because it is the best calling ever!

IKEA

Yesterday Annie and I ran some errands and then we went to the movies. She was pretty okay when we went to the camera repair shop and ran some other errands. She was very happy to go and see Nancy Drew and loved the movie.

But then we went to IKEA. Annie HATES IKEA. As soon as we pulled up to the store she started groaning and explaining to me how she had just been dragged there the day before with Amanda and how it was so "bored" and that she never wanted to see it again. Not in her whole life would she ever go there again. But I won. A car with turned off in the summer is no one's friend. So she went but with protest and anger.

Annie + IKEA does not equal friends.

I'm a bad wife

The weekend before girls camp I told Devin I couldn't possibly work that day because I had to get ready for girls camp and finish all the devotionals etc. Well good thing I took off work because while he was gone his friends took me to lunch at gecko and I pretty much did a big NOTHING to get my girls camp things done. I'm a bad wife.

Here's Darson with half a tree stuck to his tooth. I promise he refuses to take a normal picture.

done!

Okay so I'm not all the way done but almost. I got this one done in two days, with two very late nights. I work so much better at night. Anyway here is the cover and all the layouts of my pages but with no pictures. I'm also missing the opening page that has a big picture of the couple on it. Waiting for the pictures to finish that bit. Here's the rest. As always any comments are welcome. The layouts can still be changed.

new sign in book

Right now I'm working on one of my friend's sign in books. I'm learning from previous procrastination and starting three weeks early. I am ridiculously proud of myself for my non-procratinative early start. Anyways here is what I have so far. Feel free to comment/ tell me to change things that look lame/ tell me to throw out an entire page because it is lame/ add something to a page etc. Everything is on with glue dots so it is very removable if necessary.
